What is the ACU Program?
The Avid Certified User (ACU) program establishes a professional standard for Avid Media Composer proficiency in the post-production industry. Certification is achieved by mastering a comprehensive set of skills on the Avid system and passing a rigorous multiple-choice exam. The certification covers the following topics: editing, basic effects, input and output, creating titles in Avid Marquee, and color correcting shots and sequences. How to get the correct training?
To complete your certification, you have two paths to choose from:

- Receive an official ACU certificate
- Ability to use the ACU logo on your business cards, websites, resumes
- Inclusion of your name in the Avid Certified User (ACU) Database
- Industry-recognized credential for media production and post-production careers

The Certification Process
For successful completion of the ACU program and achievement of ACU Media Composer status, you must complete the following steps:
1. Choose your training path: online (ALEX) or classroom (AAEC)
2. For your choosen path, complete all required courses.
3. Practice what you learn on an Avid editing system. We do not recommend that you take the ACU Certification Exam immediately after completing coursework.
4. Pass the ACU Certification Exam for Media Composer. If achieving your certification online through ALEX, you may purchase the online exam through the Avid webstore. If achieving your certification through a local AAEC, your center will provide you instructions on how to obtain the online exam. When you complete the exam, you will be prompted to contact Avid Training Services to verify your results and receive instructions for claiming your certificate.
