Video Developer Programs
Avid is committed to working with third-party developers to provide innovative technologies and outstanding interoperability for both our users and to the digital media industry. Initiatives such as the AVX, MetaSync and Avid Audio Developer Programs are just a few examples of the programs we make available to allow third-party developers to extend the power of Avid solutions, enabling digital media professionals to get even more out of their systems. In this section, you can find out more detail about Avid Developer Programs, see who our current developers are, and request information on how your company can enroll in one of our programs.
Avid MediaToolkit (AMT) Program
The Avid MediaToolkit (AMT) is a cross-platform SDK designed to simplify the task of creating and accessing Avid native media for third parties wishing to exchange media with Avid applications. More than just a media “wrapping tool”, the AMT includes an instance of the Avid Codec Manager allowing for encoding and decoding of media to/from compatible formats, enabling a much wider range of media exchange opportunities than ever before.
Avid DNxHD Developer Program
Avid DNxHD is a revolutionary HD codec technology engineered to create mastering-quality HD media at dramatically reduced file sizes, shattering the barriers to real-time HD productivity, whether using local storage or in real-time collaborative workflows. Native HD camera compression formats are efficient, but simply aren’t engineered to maintain quality during complex post production effects processing. Uncompressed HD delivers superior image quality, but data rates and file sizes can stop a workflow dead in its tracks. Avid DNxHD delivers both efficiency and quality without compromises.
AVX Developer Program
Avid Extensions (AVX) is a cross-platform software architecture designed to allow software effect plug-in modules to be dynamically linked with host application software packages transparently. AVX plug-ins dynamically extend the collection of visual effects supported by any Avid host application that supports the AVX interface.
MetaSync Developer Program
Avid's new MetaSync technology enables postproduction professionals to tap into new revenue streams such as closed captioning, subtitle text insertion, digital rights management, and interactive TV content as well as new "converging media" such as motion simulation rides, movie theatre effects, internet devices, and interactive toys. All of these applications can be made to react to triggers embedded within standard film, video and TV content.
Avid Interplay APIs
Avid is continuing to expand the opportunities for interoperability between its products and those developed by other parties. We strive to provide customers with a fully integrated environment for content creation - sharing media, tools, and metadata seamlessly in order to expedite and improve the content creation process. As a result, we have resources dedicated to the development and maintenance of Software Development Kits, or SDKs, that can enable third-party devices and applications to exchange media and metadata with Avid Unity environments through interoperation with Avid Interplay.
iNEWS APIs
Avid's commitment to industry standards and third-party interoperability extends into the newsroom. Vendors can develop interfaces directly into iNEWS through a wide range of Application Program Interfaces (API's) while broadcast organizations and newsrooms can protect their investment in existing systems and choose new products from nearly three dozen industry-leading companies from around the world. And the list is growing! We invite you to learn more about these companies and their products.
Audio Developer Programs
Avid is committed to working with third-party developers to provide innovative technologies and outstanding interoperability for both our users and to the digital media industry.
