You decide what to integrate.
Smooth interoperability is no longer optional. Your newsroom demands agility, from systems as well as staff.
We work daily with an expanding network of third-party developers to address common integration needs so you get flexible solutions that help streamline processes and protect your existing investments.
Connectivity that works for your news operation. Integration you decide on.
We’re open to that.
We’re working daily with 3rd party developers to address a wide range of common integration needs. Which means your existing systems can work for you.
- Interplay Web Services:
An open architecture allows third party access to all major functions of our workflow management system via API. The API is a core architectural piece that makes the product more open from the outset. - Avid Media Toolkit:
Allows third parties to create Avid-compliant media files. - 50 Mb/s XDCAM HD Support:
Support for 50-megabit XDCAM HD enables customers to increase production speed and quality by working with native media. - iNews Command 2.0:
This device automation system works with any MOS-supporting newsroom computer system to control any Avid or third party playout devices for cost-effective, precise control tied to the rundown or managed flexibly with local playlists
Learn more about these solutions:
When an international broadcaster wanted to launch the first French-based global news network, they turned to Avid.
- The challenge was to launch a 24/7 news network in six months with simultaneous distribution to French-language, English-language, and Web channels.
- Avid designed a workflow that enabled a single team of journalists to produce content for all outlets simultaneously (while allowing for easy expansion to Arabic and Spanish channels); AND integrated an Avid broadcast environment with Omneon playback servers.
Teaming up with other key providers is another way we’re addressing individual workflow needs. For example, Avid teamed with SGL to create a nonlinear archive for customers like KOTV in Tulsa.
- Fast, easy access to nearly 30 years of stored media for added depth to current newscasts and promotions.
- Multiple staff members can simultaneously locate and pull footage as easily as current, online media.
- Tape archive appears as a simple extension to the workgroup.
- Each day’s broadcast media are automatically archived for future use.
Part of being open is working with emerging, innovative providers to solve challenges like accommodating new camera formats.
- Streamlining file-based ingest for XDCamHD and P2 formats through NLTek with a cost-effective new application that can automatically identify new media, tag it with metadata, and copy it to shared storage. Or “drag-and-drop” for manual transfers.
- Collaborating with NLTek on an ingest solution to enable an Ikegami workflow.
Openness is a design commitment, built into every Avid product from its inception. Open products. Open architecture. Open solutions.
The openness and scalability of Avid systems will allow us to integrate our new state-of-the-art newsrooms with critical third-party products. – Joe Snelson, VP, Director of Engineering, Meredith Broadcast Group
