The Avid AirSpeed multi-purpose media platform is a cost-effective replacement for VTRs or server technology that no longer fits your budget or your plans. AirSpeed servers accelerate your workflow with dedicated video ingest, storage, and playout directly to and from Avid Unity shared storage, and are now available to standalone Avid editing systems for capture and playout over a standard network without shared storage.

  • Headframe creation
    Automatic creation of a reference frame for each clip captured, viewable in Avid Interplay and Avid Unity MediaManager production management systems.
  • No-compromise HD end-to-end workflow production
    AirSpeed links with the award-winning DNxchange unit to convert an HD-SDI source (1080i/59.94, 720p/59.94, and 720p/50) into pristine quality, workgroup-friendly Avid DNxHD 145, making ingest-to-playout HD production the fastest and smoothest it has ever been.
  • FrameChase Editing
    When connected to an Avid Unity media network, AirSpeed offers direct video ingest to shared storage with FrameChase editing in a variety of formats, without transcoding,so MXF-supporting editing systems can simultaneously edit or play any live feed within seconds after recording starts.
  • Supports the SD formats you use
    Direct acquisition of tapes and feeds and two-channel DV25, DV50, IMX30/50, and single-channel uncompressed SD playout capability offers significant time savings at each end of your nonlinear SD workflow.
  • Unmatched flexibility and scalability
    Modular 3RU form factor, proven IT-standard design, and advanced code technology make it easy to increase channel capacity and accommodate new media formats.
  • Exceptional reliability
    In an Avid Unity environment, up to five AirSpeed units can be grouped together in a "studio" configuration, functioning as a multi-channel "virtual server" for precise playout and automatic failover.
  • Intuitive operation
    Program remotely or locally using standard VTR control protocols, and operate manually like a VTR using familiar front panel controls and jog/shuttle knob.
  • New remote-only, higher capacity option
    Where operation is by remote control only or when higher capacity for HD operation is required, AirSpeed is now available in a version without the front panel, and with drives providing 4x greater storage capacity.
