Beta Programs

Welcome to Avid’s Beta Programs page!

Thank you for your interest in learning more about Avid‘s Beta Program. The Beta Team would like to provide you with a brief overview of the Beta Program as well as show you the way to apply for possible inclusion in the Program.

Goals of the Beta Program

The goal of our Beta Program is to collect information regarding the performance, quality, stability, and functionality of new products before they are released to the marketplace. Beta Customers must agree to use pre-release products in production of their own work in a real world environment using their anticipated workflows and report their findings back to Avid. Beta sites are intended to help complement the ongoing, internal testing performed at Avid, and help us put together more solid, robust products that everyone can benefit from.

How the Beta Process Works

This outline example is a general guideline of how the Beta process normally takes place...

Depending on the product being tested, the initial sign up period is used to determine the right sites based on criteria defined by the program team. The <link> General Interest Survey</link> included on this page is instrumental in helping the Beta Team gather information and find customer matches for any current available Beta program. If there is a match, additional surveys and information will be required before the Avid Beta Team can make a final decision. If it is determined that either hardware and/or training is needed, there will be some time prior to the Beta’s programs start date when this will be delivered and/or installed.

Selected sites will receive their first beta build with documentation and are expected to begin testing immediately.  Sites will use our web based beta feedback forum on avid.com to report issues in a timely manor so the Beta Team can prioritize for fixes in follow up beta drops. The Beta team will hold weekly conference calls, giving sites the opportunity to provide verbal feedback directly to the Beta Team, and online surveys will be conducted for each beta drop to track sites perception of the product(s) over time.& As issues are addressed, sites will be asked to verify fixes and eventually repeat the test cycle with a new beta build, which varies depending on the program. Once the established exit criteria has been met through conference calls, bug report status, and final surveys, beta will then proceed into the final release stages prior to first customer shipment “FCS”.

How to Apply

Avid is continuously looking for Beta testers covering several different products lines, and several types of production environments. Please complete the General Interest survey below, making sure to leave accurate contact information, environmental information, and any previous experience with testing. This will help Avid determine if you are a good fit for any of our up-coming programs. Please keep in mind that we ask Beta testers to have Avid valid Total Support contracts in good standing in order to participate in our programs.
